Ah, Frederik might've put that block in after I sent a message, since
last night I was able to confirm that locations were added based on
Google Maps locations. For the tedious details, see here:

I really like BitCoinMaps' idea, just their execution is terrible.

No, really, there isn't a floating (currently ice) café there, despite
what our former mayor might have wanted. /I/ live in Toronto, though I
spent the first 30+ years of my life in Glasgow … and Richard W and
Steve S are good friends of mine. I have introduced them to tablet, so
they're well looked after. And by a surprising coincidence, I have a
century-long family connection
