[Talk-us-massachusetts] US6 on the Cape and road type

I recently drove on US6. On the last 13 miles to Orleans, it's not
actually divided, and 1 lane, so that's not motorway. Most of it
(western 9 miles?) was tagged as trunk, which is right, and I fixed the
last 4ish miles, some link roads, and the Orleans Rotary (now trunk, not
motorway_link!).
>From the Orleans Rotary north, it's tagged as trunk all the way to
Provincetowm. I drove on the southern end recently, and I just scanned
the bing imagery for the whole thing. I put two map notes in
questioning trunk status.
>From the Provincetowm end to:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/1118234
I concur that trunk is reasonable, or at least I have no evidence to
argue. The road is often divided, and at-grade intersections and things
on the side are rare.
>From the previous note to:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/1118235
it's iffy. It's not divided, and there are some at-grade
intersections. I see it as merely a nice US highway, and not worthy of
trunk. But I can see that others might see it differently.
>From the previous note to the Orleans Rotary, it's sometimes only 1
lane, essentially never divided, has many at-grade intersections (almost
all of which you turn left by crossing the oncoming the traffic lanes),n
businesses and driveways on the sides, and is usually posted 40 mph.
Essentially none of the things you need for trunk are true; it's not in
anyway sort of like a motorway. The only positive is that it's two
lanes in each direction. On top of that, there are signs that they
really mean the 40 mph limit, and from observing enforcement that seems
to be true.
The retagging to trunk was done by NE2 (no longer a mapper), and I
recall disputes where many thought he overclassified highways. I think
since then no one has really paid attention.
So, I would like to retag US6 to primary from the rotary to the southern
of the two notes I put in. Anyone local or who has driven on it is
welcome to tell me I shouldn't and why.
if you are in favor of moving the part between the two notes to trunk,
let me know. I haven't driven that recently, and am reluctant to change
it without encouragement from others.
