[Talk-us-massachusetts] A different method to correct Open Space Polygons in MA

Your approach to geometry replacement sounds good to me.
I had no idea josm could read shape files -- thanks for pointing that
out.
You of course have to think about the relationship between the open
space and the parcels. But that's no different than with manual lineup.
As a fine point, the MassGIS L3 parcels are almost certainly in NAD83, not
WGS84, but perhaps that is in the metadata and josm's shp code is
transforming on the fly.
Used "Edit-Paste at source position" (Ctrl+Alt+V) to add the polygon to the
Data layer
It would be nice if cross-layer paste preserved coordinates by default.
I selected both the new polygon and the old polygon and used "Replace
Geometry" Ctrl-Shift-G which deleted the old polygon but retained the
attributes and the history.
Does the order matter? How does it know which one to replace with the
other?
