Not what you asked, but: Is lineage viable?  can you install recent firefox?

My only idea is that recently, there was a note that access to the tile
servers directly would be blocked as people were supposed to be using
some CDN.  But I can't imagine that the main site would be serving you
instructions to use the origin servers.  So this doens't make sense, but
it fits in time.
