Hello, I've just joined this mailing list, and am in the process of catching
up on its archives. And significant chunks of the "tagging" list as well,
although I see no need to join that one, as it has the overall feel of a
recently kicked hornet nest.

I've interacted with a couple of you already about my observations on the
"greening of the parks" around eastern MA and related issues/debates, and
once I achieve a good 30k-foot perspective and a concept of where the average
concensus lies, I'll post some more about it. I have read emacsen's blog post
about the fundamental problems with the OSM operational model as a whole, and
various comments about how the whole effort is like biological evolution. I
understand the theoretical intent of "don't tag for the renderer", but at the
same time I also understand that the visual experience of a viewer *is* the
ultimate end goal of almost any update effort. These issues have clearly been
a total CF for years, and don't seem likely to get better anytime soon.
