[Talk-us-sfbay] Status of Sonoma county address/building

Hiya, yes I've talked with him about it:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/99080139

Jpear1's import was not affiliated with my Sonoma import nor coordinated on
the import list, but it seems relatively high quality and I confirmed that
it was done with City of Santa Rosa's permission. I myself was going to
import that data and conflate it with the county's data, but now I need to
update my scripts to handle this new data properly.

The City unit address data is much higher quality than the county parcel
data, and for many multi-unit buildings it's probably best to leave as-is
with separate POIs. The big question is whether to tag the buildings
themselves with the addresses, in which cases, and with which data source.

My thinking is for now to just treat it as its own data, handle my Sonoma
County import totally separately either by manually excluding the city
limits or automatically avoiding adding more data when there is already
address info present.

I'd be in favor of anyone manually (or automatically, with appropriate
validation and safeguards) merging single-address building POIs and
buildings as long as they know what they're doing and don't lose or corrupt
that info. I'd also be in favor of tagging multi-unit buildings with the
address or address ranges they encompass, though I think that's a secondary
priority. I'd love to hear from anyone else on this topic because I've
gotten almost total local radio silence on my Sonoma import so far. (I'm
not yet at the stage of posting to the master imports list but close.) I'm
hesitant to use the county address data inside Santa Rosa because it's
pretty coarse and slightly less accurate. However I do plan to import the
county building data into the city as that info is still lacking in many
areas.
