  As NE2 notes, relations are often and easily broken by those who don't 
understand them, or during an unusual edit case.   Having the multiple 
refs is an easy save when fixing relations.

   However, if we're within a short sprint of having "super secret 
shields!", I'd support any tagging that makes the most sense in that 
context.
