I've never been quite sure how to tag self storage facilities. Taginfo 
[1] shows significant usage of the following tags, each of which I've 
probably tried out at some point:

amenity=self_storage
amenity=storage
building=self_storage
building=storage
building:use=storage
landuse=self_storage
landuse=storage
man_made=storage
shop=self_storage
shop=storage
shop=storage_rental
shop=storage_units

So yeah, some consensus would be great...
