I have used landuse=garages since coming across the following in the wiki: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:landuse%3Dgarages <http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:landuse=garages>.

It does make sense. Storage units are in effect remote (outsourced?) garages/basements/attics.
