For the record, I left a comment on the one user who was editing in my area and didn't get a response... But the weekend is also just ending.

I also put in a report on the OSM site explaining the situation and asking for a second option from the DWG. I probably should've sent them an email.

I posted this on the OSM.us slack and the OSM World discord server but didn't get much feedback, so maybe the community in the mailing list has more to say about this.
I would consider contacting DWG
