There are many things we intentionally do not put on the map, or remove 
if someone does - for example, the names (and occupations and ages and 
genders...) of people who live in a building, or the fact that a 
building is a women's shelter. There have also been cases where someone 
mapped a nesting place of a rare bird and the community agreed to remove 
that.

I don't want to weigh in on the concrete situation because I have no 
pertinent knowledge, I just wanted to make it clear that the statement

has its limits, and there's broad agreement in OSM that it does.
