[Talk-us] Importing CobbLinc Public Transit Routes from Government Data

Hi all,
I've written a script to convert the data located here:
https://data.bts.gov/dataset/NTM-CobbLinc/vsae-bxvy
Into an Open Street Map compatible format.
I was hoping to do an upload of all the CobbLinc transit routes (stops
are converted too, but I'll skip those for now as this data is somewhat
old and I can verify the routes easily, but not the stops) since only a
few of them exist on the map right now.
I wanted to check with the community first and see if this is an okay
thing to do? The data says it's CC licensed, however I believe that
since it's government data created during an employees work this may be
wrong and they are required to release it under the public domain (I've
noticed a lot of agencies putting CC licenses on things recently though,
so maybe I'm wrong and I just don't know how the government data laws
work here). Either way I think we can use it and I could give credit
just to be safe.
What other considerations should I take into account? I read the wiki
page that said to check with the community and publish from a one-off
account, so this is me following up and trying to figure out what the
best course of action here is, or if this is even desired. Thanks!
