Well, I wouldn't be surprized if MapIT and Navteq got a lot of their info
from CD:SM, ie. everything that CD:SM digitized up to the date of the
licensing agreement as well as all the aerial photos. And that would mean
that there are very little competition between them.
Brabys are interesting because it seems as if some of their roads where
carelessly traced from aerial photos, showing driveways and other private
roads.
I think 3 digital map street map providers openly competing is "enough".
Open competition between IP products (like maps) often leads to zero prices.
Then the competitors find niches like quality or branding to compete on. To
prevent this wasteful business of open competition, I suggest we create a
free streetmap of South Africa !
