Yes I think you're right (after I RTFMed).
One solution is the Etrex Legend Cx, but it's a bit expensive after
upgrading the micoSD card.

Then there are 2 device solutions, e.g.
* a Nuvi 200 for maps + a NaviGPS (not available in SA) for logging.
* or Bluetooth GPS + PDA with software for managing waypoints
* or what I used on my last vaction : Etrex yellow with waypoints
preloaded + download device (like notebook computer) + printout of
full names of waypoints and / or printed maps.
Since T4A is not routable, one can represent almost all the info as waypoints.
