[Openstreetmap] How do I get started?

OK, so I got the GPS, the laptop and the Zaurus.  I even got gpsdriver
working and gpsd running.  What do I do next?

I'm supposed to create some database?  How do I do that?  Where is the
table spec, and what are the requirements for the database
implementation?

There is supposed to be some program talking to gpsd and storing the
info in some database table.  Where is this program, and how do I run
it?

I would like to visualise the collected data, and annotate it with
labels, lines and intersections.  How do I do this?

I would like to upload the colelcted data into the central collection
point.  How do I do this?

(I hope these questions can be the start of a howto.  I know I
could/should read the source in svn, but suspect I'm not the only one
not know where to start. :)
