My GPS logs just enough many points.  If you connect them with 
lines (http://aronsson.se/geodata/rydsskogen-lines.png), you get a 
clear track of where I have been.  But OSM just plots the dots 
(http://aronsson.se/geodata/rydsskogen-lines.png) as one pixel 
each and that becomes invisible.  Pere's and Steve's tracks from 
Oslo and London log one point per second, so the map is full of 
red pixels.  My logs typically have one point per 9 seconds.

No, that would fill up the unit's memory too fast.

My unit's memory stores 10K track points, and I sometimes go for 
four or five days between dumping tracks to my computer.
