In a worst-case scenario, the osm data file will be lost or not saved at
all. Happened to me once, while moving some points around - I just did not
notice that I had also selected a way. The segments belonging to the way
were (because of bug 214) not completely selected, so I moved 500
segments around while the others remained where they belong. Took me a lot
of work to get them back in order, as I realized my mistake much too late
(after closing JOSM).

I hope that (public) server-side revision control is implemented soon.
