Yes, that would be a great idea. I've been "got" by that, even on a short way,
where it is half off the screen (and of course, I don't know that when I
download a new area).
Another small thing that would have been very useful yesterday would be for JOSM
to warn if more than X changes are to be made. X could be user configurable
(default maybe 100), or set to something (I'd guess maybe 250 if it can't be
changed).
Then, after you click "yes, upload this", you'd get "You are about to make Y
changes, are you really sure this is correct?". As I accidentally changed 9000
items yesterday, although only 3000 were altered before I stopped it, that check
would have been an additional "are you being stupid" reminder.
