I think we need to make it much easier to:
1) find the maps
2) use the maps
3) give OSM some money

The above also cover some of the things discussed in the recent thread
"organising the wiki pages".

Can we not have a new subdomain, say http://maps.openstreetmap.org This
being a very simple page, with an alphabetical index drilled down by
country> district>town etc. there to be available a png version of the map
and the svg file. (if we want to increase useage of the maps I think we
have to make the svg available as it's so more flexible). Obviously there
would have to be someway to get the png and svg files uploaded and linked to
the various pages, suggestions?

have a link on each page of http://maps.openstreetmap.org to two further
pages which are easy to understand:

page 1- donate here
page 2 - licence details

Ansd thats it, nice simple site, easy to navigate, and find the maps.

I think we also need to see if we can reduce the OSM logo and CC logo on the
SVG files produced by osmarender, to maybe just text.

If we make it easier to find and use the maps I am sure it will be easier to
increase uptake. For instance we could write to all web designers, graphic
designers and ad agencies on the Isle of Wight, pointing out we have maps of
the whole county available.
