Well I'm currently one of the top contributors to the Osmarender layer
in the slippy map, and I can say the data is of mixed quality,
timescale-wise, because the tiles are rendered at the Zoom=12 level by
the tiles at home clients. the tiles at lower zooms, covering bigger areas
are updated infrequently by the osmathome.bandnet.org server itself.
OJW has more details on that topic.

You can always contact someone on IRC (me, deelkar, for instance) to ask
them to render certain areas on the map, this will take about 15-45
minutes per tile (and subtiles to zoom=17), depending on the amount of
data present in that tile's area.

Another possibility would be to download data into JOSM with the
mappaint plugin, and plan from there. There you always have the most
recent data.
