[Openstreetmap] Logging with Windows Mobile

Hi,
I have a Windows PDA with an external GPS Unit for logging GPS data. The software I use creates a *.txt file which I think is a NMEA file and looks like this:

$GPGGA,172129.476,5131.6553,N,00711.7130,E,1,07,1.1,108.1,M,47.5,M,18.1,0000*49
$GPGGA,172130.476,5131.6577,N,00711.7228,E,1,07,1.2,108.2,M,47.5,M,18.1,0000*4D
....

I´am trying to convert these files to gpx with Gpsbabel but without success. Therefore my questions are:

Can I use these files for OSM?
How can I convert these files to gpx?
