To me, it looks like everything is down. map.rb always yield in empty
<osm>-tags, node.rb always response with either "not found" or "gone".

(Looks like I have the same problem as Nick)

This file completly lacks timestamps, even for the ways. (The old planet
files also contained no timestamp, but I think it would be good to include
this, in case of someone using the planet.osm as base data for OSM-server
interactions).

If done offline, mysql dumps are usually measured in MB/s. Copying the
stuff to an other machine in local network (e.g. dev.openstreetmap.org)
should takes only minutes. There, the local extraction process should take
at maximum "some hours". So where is the bottleneck?
