I was helping someone look at GPSes tonight, and I stumbled into the
fact that http://www.semsons.com/roybluegmobd.html has RoyalTek BlueGPS
units on sale for only $99.99. These units are excellent -- they have
the ability to log up to 30,000 points at 1, 2, or 3 second intervals,
they have a 10-ish hour battery life, and are about 5 times as accurate
under similar cover as my Etrex Legend. Time to Lock is tiny -- on the
scale of dozens of seconds if you turn it on before you're walking out
the door.
It's a bluetooth device, it has Windows software, but
http://www.harbaum.org/till/bluegps/ will allow you to download the data
or configure the device in Linux or on a Mac. (I've tested both of these.)
This is an absolutely excellent device -- If they're still doing the
sale in a couple days, I'll probably buy myself 5 and ship them to
people who want to collect data -- there is nothing nicer than these
devices for a no-brains interface to collect great data.
Regards,
