Maybe we could have a "tips for taking your GPS walking" page on the wiki that 
addresses things like logging times, battery life (solar power battery 
chargers?), etc. 

e.g. I just lent someone a GPS for a one-week cycle ride where they won't have 
any laptop - I set the logging time to 13 seconds and just hoping that's long 
enough to get their entire journey rather than a high-res portion of their 
last day ;-)

I'll put up a javascript calculator to play with various combinations of 
time/distance intervals. The spreadsheet version is:
