I combine all my GPS tracks on a dirty big Illustrator map of the UK.
If I want to annotate somewhere with "haven't got this bit", or "this
bit needs some tidying", or "I took a short-cut here", I just put a
text label in my "annotations" layer.
Now obviously this isn't a whole heap of use for those who use OSM
alone to do their mapping, but I wonder if some form of "mapper's
annotation" feature could be built either into the OSM DB or
specifically into a client like JOSM.
