Hi Dutch,
I think you misunderstood me, and I appear to have struck a nerve.
I was not discussing the act of snooping other peoples communications, but
about someone using a dsl user's open network to submit copyrighted content
(for whatever reason), hence breaking the accountability chain for the source
of the content.
As for wardriving not being about piggybacking on other peoples' bandwith,
that's news to me. When I hunt around looking for an open network, it's
generally to use it. And there's nothing illegal about this afaik. Some
people may do it as sport, but everyone I have ever met wardriving has only
done it with the intent to use it. And there is nothing illegal about using
these public facilities. After all, anyone who wants to stop piggybacking can
simply limit access using a number of options from passwords to mac
addresses.
