Osmarender will render a suitably tagged way as an area.
To make something that will render as an area do the following:
1 Create a way and tag it with amenity=parking or landuse=commercial or
whatever
2 Make sure that the segments all point in the same direction
3 Make sure that the segments are ordered in a linear sequence in the way
There is no *need* to close the way as an implied line will be drawn between
the end and start anyway, but normally the way should be closed.
