What about if you add some of your working examples to the SVN?
Simply do 
  svn co http://svn.openstreetmap.org/
and edit the File
  utils/osmarender/example_debian.sh
If you can start a README in this directory too would be great. You can write 
down all your knowledge you got while experimenting with osmarender. This 
would give at least a nice start for a documentation for osmarender.

These things might save some other People lots of time.
