I think you may still run into problems with the discontinuities between
the GPX traces. When I concatenated several NMEA logs together in a
single GPX file with GPSBabel I found that JOSM was drawing lines
between the end of one track and the start of the next. This Resulted in
a few big lines across the map when the end points didn't coincide.
