Sure. I'd just like to highlight that this burden is not one I
expected to bear for a year whilst the software was overtaken by
better solutions that are overlooked by newbies because they're buried
inside a wiki.

Ah, I meant to chip in on this discussion too. Replacing www with the
wiki would, I agree, better reflect the state of the project right
now. But I think it would be a step backwards. The wiki is awfully
'meta' ... it reflects the working status of the project, it contains
a lot of the day to day hard work and collaboration that make the
project great. It's awesome. But is it a good front page? No. The
OSM front page currently represents the audacious ambition of the
project, and where it falls short it should serve as motivation to
address it. If you put the wiki on the front page I think you stifle
the ambition of the project.
