[OSM-talk] GPS scribble in JOSM

That's correct. Marking a log private makes the tracklog private to the
owner but tracklog points from all logs (public and private) get imported to
the database. If you delete a log then those points get flagged as deleted
in the database but they don’t actually get removed from the database. The
same applies for nodes segments ways etc in that when you delete an item it
still sits in the database but with a delete flag so that it is not
delivered to the viewer or via the API.
Perhaps the confusion here is a misunderstanding about what happens to a
tracklog when it is uploaded. For clarity, what happens is:
1. Tracklog is uploaded to server where is sits awaiting processing.
2. Every 15 minutes the database import script runs to import all the valid
points from the tracklog, and any other tracklogs, into the database
3. The uploaded log is then stored separately from the database and made
available to the uploading user (if private) or everyone (if public).
Cheers
Andy
