I am surprised at the ignorance of some of the comments, given this is a 
'techie' site - do they know *nothing* about open source projects? It reminds 
me of comments I had about Freemap - people couldn't grasp the idea that 
building open source mapping takes time, but the end result is worth it.

Seriously though it leads credence to a front page in the style of Richard's, 
as that highlights the idea of OSM as a project to build free geodata.
