Also, quickly, is there a one-size-fits-all-elements tag we can add to

There are now tags that you can add to to any way or node that will will
prevent them from appearing from being rendered. There are also tags to
supress the rendering of the name and the ref attributes as well:
osmarender:render=no
osmarender:renderName=no
osmarender:renderRef=no
