[OSM-talk] Landsat and waypoints in JOSM

I have managed to get Landsat to display in JOSM. Following a discussion over
the New Forest weekend, the approach I have taken is to allow the user to
download Landsat for the currently-displayed area, rather than a continuous
grab from the WMS server. Hence I have implemented a new layer, LandsatLayer.
Scaling seems to work well. You can grab Landsat at any scale, then zoom in or
out; the degradation of quality on zooming in is comparable to fetching
Landsat at a zoomed-in scale; no worse. In other words, you can grab Landsat
at any scale and then work with it at other scales. As an example of its use,
the quality is good enough to estimate the boundaries of woods and heaths in
the New Forest.
I haven't implemented much of a UI for this yet. So... how would people like
to use this facility? Shall I use a dialog similar to the one for grabbing
OSM data from the OSM server?
BTW another JOSM patch I added allows you to load waypoints directly into the
OSM data layer. This is something I find useful as often, when out walking, I
record a car park or pub, or other POI, plus its name, as a waypoint and it
would be good to convert it straight to a node. At the moment it does this
for *any* waypoint with a *non-default* name (i.e. one not beginning with a
zero). However I could change it to only convert waypoints beginning with -
say - "Z"
