If you look at most of the records I've found on worldaerodata.com, the source
for the data seems to be DAFIF (US National Geospatial Intelligence Agency),
which certainly used to be public domain due to it being US taxpayer funded.
.. however they seem to have changed their tune lately, partly because not all
the information they provided (for instance, data for airports outside the US)
was gathered by US taxpayer funding.
I think, therefore that the NGA has tweaked their website to make only data
pertaining to the USA publicly available.
