+1 on YOU running Gpsbabel. GPX is more structured, and even more  human 
readable than a raw NMEA log.
There is IMHO no advantage for OSM, to accept raw NMEA logs.
OSM accepts the de facto standard interchange format, GPX, for trackfiles.

There even exists several websites where you can upload your NMEA log, 
and they will convert the file and let you download a GPX file. Adam 
Schneider's gpsvisualizer ( http://www.gpsvisualizer.com ) website is 
well worth bookmarking in its own right, and the online converter 
facilities are just what you want for your situation. AND it's usuable 
on mobile devices. I utilize it often with my Symbian based S-E P990i 
cellphone.
