[OSM-talk] Amenity definition question

I was looking at
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Key:highway/tertiary
and it had a list of default amenities.

One of them was

I took a look in the dictionary and the first definition was "an agreeable
way or manner; courtesy; civility: the graceful amenities of society."

Most of the examples I find for the word amenity refer to things that are
built like a toilet or a park bench.

How do we use the word in OSM?
