It's an interesting one that, yesterday I felt slightly more vulnerable in 
daylight in the "What are you doing?" respect (before 4pm) than dark 
(after 5pm) simply because more people were around... even if people might 
have thought it was "odder" to be out after dark. Mind you this time of 
year it gets dark so early that the hours of darkness coincide with when 
people are still out and about...

There was one woman who thought it was odd I was going to the end of a 
cul-de-sac with cars parked, but when I explained that I was "surveying 
the street" she sounded very apologetic. But the guys acting in a 
threatening manner (i.e. shouting) on another street, I just backed off as 
soon as I could...

Tom - agree that if that was a public highway, the guy had absolutely no 
right to stop you proceeding along it.
