JOSM has had a delete mode for at least one full year now (and likely
from the beginning). So this is one thing that hasn't changed.

JOSM can only ever upload all your changes sequentially because it
does not keep track of which changes are in relation to which. For
example, if you first create a way and later change its name, the
change cannot be uploaded without upoading the creation first.
I'll disable selection in the list of edits; it conveys the wrong
message. I wasn't even aware that it is possible!
