Ok, then of course it is better to use "route" than "annotation". I  
still believe it is only a temporary solution until we have a proper  
method to describe such routes. Consider

* what if a way is part of two routes at the same time?
* where would you, in the case of nature trails and the like, put  
general info about the trail (like "approx 1.5 hours")

If we had a "superway" structure I would create such a way consisting  
of the individual parts, give it a proper name and but all the  
attributes in there.
