[OSM-talk] blank tiles in the slippy maps

(a) Is there any way to suppress the "more osm coming soon" tiles in the
slippy maps in areas which really are empty? (If I could guess where the
tile boundaries are, I could put a single anonymous node in each I suppose,
but I have no easy way to determine this).

(b) Why do I intermittently but very frequently get these "more osm coming
soon" tiles when they really are there? Most often on mapnik, but this is
the default.
