There's a discussion on another thread about better ways to mark TODO,
but I know that I and at least one other person in my area have been
using bare nodes as ellipses to show where a road or path continues
but isn't mapped yet. I'm not saying this is a good idea, but just
flagging that it does happen.
I find ---->.------->. . . (or two segments and two bare nodes for
the ASCII-art-impared) really easy to spot in JOSM and understand what
it means, rather than faffing with attributes. If we start purging
bare, I don't mind doing things differently.
I find duplicate segments, duplicate nodes and zero-length segments
much harder to spot and deal with though.
