I'm currently having massive amounts of problems trying to convert the osm
dump data into anything I can actually use. I'm assuming I need to convert
it to shapefiles so that I will be able to use mapserver. I'm aware I can
use osm2shp but the only things I can find that tell you how to do this seem
to be written for Linux/Unix while I'm using XP.
I want to be able to use the map in flash to display a map of the country
along with locations taken from database that will be updateable by users. I
want these locations so that they can be clicked on and then bring up
another screen, so I need to be able to assign actions to them in the flash
code. I also want to be able to get the longitude and latitude of locations
that users will be able to select from clicking on them, so that they can
add details for these locations. All these user entered details will,
hopefully, be saved/loaded to/from a MySQL database (as I know MySQL, at
least I have something on my side).
If anyone could give me any pointers in how to change it to a shapefile
using XP (Apache and all the things installed with MS4W 2.2.2) or let me
know what I actually need and how to go about it all, I will be most
grateful.
