This meetup is set to discuss Mapnik in particular as it's developer will be there to act immediately on our suggestions. There is no reason why a similar process could not be enacted with the developer(s) of Osmarender. I agree that decisions taken on one should inform the other, but would point at that currently the decisions that have been taken on sizing features within Osmarender mean that the detail may be appropriate to include at different "levels" than those for Mapnik detail. Should the two necessarily be on a convergant path? Perhaps the Essen Developers Workshop should take this aspect on board (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Essen_Developers_Workshop). Actually, it seems that this has already been mooted (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Essen_Developers_Workshop/Topics). Again if you have views, add them to this page.
Cheers

I hope that the Osmarender layer will also profit from that. I don't
see any reason why things designed to make a Mapnik layer look nice
cannot also be used to improve Osmarender! Especially the decisions
on what to render at what level could, and should in my opinion, be
mirrored by the Osmarender layer (except stuff that Mapnik is
ignorant about - while it would be nice of you to include questions
of how to render bridges/tunnels etc at various levels, it'd probably
be too theoretical an effort without any visuals).
