[OSM-talk] Any use for GPS-data as shapefiles?

I am new on this forum, but I have a few hundred kilometers recorded GPS data about highway E4 in Finland and some other roads as well, and I would like to share those with the community.  My problem is that my recordings are made with a field survey software and I can take them out just in common GIS formats, like shapefiles or MapInfo MIF/MID files.  I could not find a recipe for converting my data to something uploadable from the openstreetmap howtos.  Can anybody give me a hint about how to proceed? Ogr conversion utility seems not to support GMX as output.  I found some references to shp2gmx utility, but only found gmx2shp that does not help me.  Obviously there has been shape2text.exe on ESRI site, but I could not find that anymore.  Now I have downloaded GPS Trackmaker but do not have time to try it today.  I would be happy if someone could show me a right way to go.
