[OSM-talk] satellite precision

hi,
I wanted to know the precision of google maps (don't worry. I didn't copy 
anything), and came across the following hybrid:

at least in my browser the map and the picture is off by at least 15 meters.
Is this due to some bad mapping, or is the image just not at the correct 
location. If it's the latter, can we actually use Yahoo images to map roads?
I used to adjust my nodes according to yahoo (trusting yahoo instead of my 
GPS). Bad idea?
