Which requires the person creating the sample city to actually think
about canals and lock gates (not to mention know what they mean). To
get all of the map features into a sample, the area covered is going
to be quite large -- making it tricky to find what you want. If all
the map features had links to samples in the real world, it would
actually be possible to put photos of that real world feature in as
well.
That's not to say a sample city is a bad idea (shouldn't be in the
real database though). But personally I don't think it would be
anymore useful than linking the real world.
