[OSM-talk] old data not showing?

Hi,

About a year ago I had a burst at entering data on streetmap. I'd 
uploaded a fair chunk of the eastern side of Hounslow (London TW3), but 
not converted it to ways or added street names.

Then I had to leave it, and haven't looked at openstreetmap for some time.

Now I've come back and am thinking of trying again, but I don't 
understand what has happened to the old data, or what the current system 
problems are. If I look at my personal history, the uploaded files are 
there. If I zoom in on the area, a few but not most of my uploads are 
displayed (clicking on the 'map' link in the personal history takes me 
to a top-level view of the UK for some reason, although the parameters 
look fine). If I change to 'edit' mode I just get a map made of empty 
grey blocks.

So, questions:

- Should I download and re-upload my old data? Will this break everything?
- Is the edit screen generally broken, or is it just not working with 
firefox?
- Am I asking in the right mailing list -  IIRC there was talk of a 
separate mailing list for newbie questions, but I can't find it.
