The problem here is lumping all grass verges and extended grass infill around
roads with the common areas provided in housing estates. These are DIFFERENT,
and not simply green_space

That one I would sort of accept, but not all park areas are formal or even
fenced, so just restricting 'park' to something called a park may be wrong as
well. The larger infill areas on housing estates ARE parks even if not in name.

Another very valid point, I have a grass area at the front to my house which
is outside the fence but is still part of my property. It is a verge next to
the footpath, but it's a level of detail I'm not worrying about yet.

Exactly, the larger park and play areas on council estates should be rendered,
but not every individual grass verge and garden?
