Do you mean, for example, the overall campsite is a forest area and has multiple small or large areas to put up tents?
While not directly answering your question, I'd suggest that mapping in the roads, tracks and paths around the campsite plus the node location of main facilities such as toilets and potable water give a reasonable impression of the size and complexity of the campsite. That's what I've done in Australia. I've used a few non-standard amenity types that are common generally in Aus that I've not put proposals in for: barbeque, shower, picnic_table if I recall.
